SDI Passes Export Permit Testing to Ship Its Ammunition Globally

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 10/02/12 -- Security Devices International Inc. ("SDI" or "The Company") (OTCBB: SDEV) is pleased to announce that it has successfully passed independent testing. These results enable the Company to obtain its Hazardous Materials Classification for transportation and export purposes of its products, from the United States Department of Transportation (US DOT).

An explosives and research-testing agency for the US DOT, conducted an in-depth analysis using universally accepted testing measures to ensure the safety of the Company's rounds in transport. Testing methodologies included: thermal stability tests, external bonfire evaluation (lighting a military crate full of the Company's rounds on fire), drop testing from twelve meters, as well as unconfined package testing (exploding one round in the middle of a full crate of rounds). All tests were approved.

A US DOT number is required to ship any ammunition within the United States and internationally.

The imminent issuance of a US DOT number will allow SDI to fulfill a field testing order which it has received for its 40mm Blunt Impact Projectiles from an unnamed foreign Military.

SDI has also received requests for live fire demonstrations from several US government agencies, as well as numerous Canadian agencies, in three provinces. The Company is scheduling all demonstrations over the coming months.
